I read this webcomic once in which this female goddess kept accusing this man of rape and all sorts of random stuff, and he's generally like wtf? He ends up waking up and some other chick gives him a name that's not Adam like the goddess says it should be. He goes out to fight these "angels" which look more like giant robosapien things.

If you've ever read the book Keeper of the Isis Light and know the story, there was a spin-off of the storyline which made the main character a lizard, the robot (Guardian) seem more stupid and the humans trying to destroy them. The spin-off was called Mange on Isis and was terrible.

It might be Neon Genesis Evangelion. I remember there were these weird robot alien things called angels but I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for.
