What type of head injury causes retrograde amnesia?

what part of the brain would you have to damage to have retrograde amnesia? how long would it last? how do you diagnose it?What type of head injury causes retrograde amnesia?
retrograde amnesia is often caused by injury to the temporal lobes and especially the hippocampus.

it may last indefinitely or may last only for a short time depending on the severity and location of the damage.

the diagnosis would be made by the injured saying he have no recollection or have a vague memories (as if being in a dream) for stuff that happened before he got his head injured.

usually the memories that are "lost" are new memories (memories of stuff that occurred several hours before the injury, even though it might be more)

if no Anterograde amnesia is present the person should be able to remember things that happened after he had the traumatic event
